IMPLEMENTATION OF NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY 2020 IN GRADUATION COURSES
WHAT IS NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY 2020?

National Education Policy 2020 is the first education policy of the 21st century and aims to address the many growing developmental imperatives of our country. This Policy proposes the revision and revamping of all aspects of the education structure, including its regulation and governance, to create a new system that is aligned with the aspirational goals of 21st century education, while building upon India’s traditions and value systems. The National Education Policy lays particular emphasis on the development of the creative potential of each individual. It is based on the principle that education must develop not only cognitive capacities -both the ‘foundational capacities ’of literacy and numeracy and ‘higher-order’ cognitive capacities, such as critical thinking and problem solving – but also social, ethical, and emotional capacities and dispositions.

The national education policy must provide to all students, irrespective of their place of residence, a quality education system, with particular focus on historically marginalized, disadvantaged, and underrepresented groups. The curriculum and pedagogy of our institution must develop among the students a deep sense of respect towards the Fundamental Duties and Constitutional values, bonding with one’s country, and a conscious awareness of one’s roles and responsibilities in a changing world.

Evaluation is an indispensable part of the educational process. The progress of students in all the programmes is evaluated at various levels. At our institute we have an unique system of internal evaluation i.e. Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) to assess the performance of students at various levels of courses like, the entry level, in between the term and at the end of the term in the form of unit-tests, tutorials, mid-terms exams & summative assessment in the form of pre-university examinations. Along with the theory assessment the practical session in the form of teaching practice is also internally assessed and rated in the form of grades and a mock viva is also conducted to assess the oral capabilities, content knowledge and understanding of the pupil teacher. The CCE based schedule of assessment is as follows.

  • Valuation of entry behaviour of students in the beginning

  • Quarterly assessment

  • Online assessment

  • Assessment through practical session

  • Assessment of Internship programs

  • Summative Assessment in the form of pre-university exams

  • Assessment through Mock-viva

  • Assessment on the basis of performance in community based project

  • Assessment on the basis of participation in various co-curricular activities i.e. seminars, presentation, debates, extempore & other competitions during the whole session

  • Final university exams(Theory & Practical)

  • Semester university exams( B.A., B.Sc., B.Com)

  • Vocational curriculum

  • Holistic development of learners

  • Reduce curriculum content to enhance essential learning and critical thinking.

  • Empower students through flexibility in course choices.

  • Credit base system (semester system).

We are offering these courses under the National Education Policy 2020 in our college.

The evaluation cards are very helpful in providing the feedback to students. The external evaluation is done by the university (Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut) in the form of university examinations, both theory practical.

New educational policy focuses on multidisciplinary approach. It also helps in the all-round development of the students. According to the NEP 2020 Graduation courses is divided into six semesters which is based on credit system. To pass in each semester students have to gain the minimum credits.
